Easy Breezy Mug Cakes

on

Did you ever get cravings for a sweet treat after finishing a whole meal? Making a batch of brownies, a whole cake or cookies can be exhausting with all the baking involved. Well, at such times ‘Mug Cakes’ are your best friends!! In fact they are so easy that they are dangerously convenient! So whether you’re living in a hostel, or with your family, you can be prepared for some delicious dessert indulgence whenever that overwhelming feeling strikes. Besides, you can mix them quickly and it takes only few seconds. Guess what? They require no oven and you can make them in minutes in the microwave! In this post, I am going to show you how to make not one but four fun filled mug cakes, so let’s get started.

Mug Cakes

Prep time: 15 mins
Cook Time : 2 mins
Served: Hot or Cold

The first cake that we will be making is  Banana Blueberry Mug Cake.

Ingredients

1 medium size ripe banana
1 tablespoon oil (without flavor)
1 tablespoon honey/maple syrup
1 tablespoon sugar
¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract
3 tablespoon all purpose flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
Pinch of cinnamon
2 tablespoon blueberries (frozen)

Method:

Banana Blue Berry Mug Cake

In a microwavable bowl mix the banana, oil, honey and vanilla extract. Add in the flour, baking powder, little salt and cinnamon. Mix all the ingredients until they blend in smoothly. Use a fork to whisk and get out any lumps. Dot the blueberries on top. I have used frozen ones but you can use fresh ones as well. Our banana blueberry cake is ready for the microwave. Pop it in for 1 minute and your banana blueberry mug cake is ready. At this point your kitchen smells gorgeous!! I have topped it up with banana round slices and sprinkled some cinnamon on it.

The Second cake is (my personal favorite) going to be Nutella Mug Cake

Ingredients

3 tablespoon Nutella
1 egg
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons milk
¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract
4 tablespoon all purpose flour
2 tablespoon cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
Choc Chips (Optional)

Method:

Nutella-Mix

Tip: You can substitute all purpose flour by grinding same quantity oats in a food processor. You can enjoy this recipe guilt-free !!

In a microwavable bowl/mug mix Nutella, egg, milk and vanilla extract till all the ingredients are smooth. Add in the flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, sugar and salt. I have added few white choc chips but this is optional. After that, microwave you mug cake for 50s to 1 minute. I have microwaved it for 1 minute as my microwave is 900 watt. You can check the power of yours and accordingly the time might vary. Let the Nutella mug cake cool for a bit and you can enjoy it with an ice cream.

Nutella-PS

Third cake is going to be Coffee Mug Cake.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon instant coffee powder
1 tablespoon hot water
2 teaspoon milk
1 egg
1 tablespoon oil (flavorless)
4 tablespoon all purpose flour
¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoon sugar
Pinch of salt

Method:

Coffee-Mix

First, dissolve coffee powder in boiling hot water and keep it ready. In a microwavable bowl/mug mix together egg, oil and milk until smooth. Add in the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar & salt). Pop the mug in the microwave for one minute and enjoy with fresh ice-cream or cocoa. I have topped it with some chocolate sprinkles and cocoa powder.

Coffee Mug Cakes-PS

Last but not the least cake is going to be Rose Vanilla mug cake with strawberry drizzle.

One of the main reasons I made this cake is because I wanted some color, so I used pink food coloring and some Cadbury gems for decoration.

Ingredients

1 egg
2 teaspoons milk
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoon all purpose flour
2 tablespoon sugar
¼ teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
White Choc Chips (Optional)
2 drops Pink food coloring

Method:

Vanilla-Strawberry-PS

In a microwavable bowl/mug mix the egg, milk and vanilla extract. Add all the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Dot some white choc chip on the top (optional) and pop it in the microwave for one minute. After your mug cake is done top it up with a strawberry drizzle.

Rose 2015-PS

So now you can make four new mug cake flavors in just few minutes and enjoy with your friends and family.

Hi Vidhi! I have not tried the recipe using aata but if you want a healthier alternative then you can replace all purpose flour with Oat meal flour. Hope this helps 🙂
